Venus Flytrap Facts {Sam's Writing Advice}

Yay! It is Sam again! I am giving facts for Venus flytraps. We have a Venus flytrap named Jaws.

Sam's Writing Tip: Not everything you find on the Internet is true. Research different sites. For example, Sweet Search is a good place to begin.  It is a database where everything is checked to be true.

Here are six facts about Venus flytraps:

  1. Another name for a Venus flytrap is Dionaea muscipula. (say die-oh-nee-ah-mus-se-pew-uh-lu)
  2. People are making robot Venus flytraps.
  3. A Venus flytrap is a carnivorous plant (meaning it can eat meat).
  4. Venus flytraps come from North and South Carolina.
  5. My favorite carnivorous plant is a Venus flytrap.
  6. Venus flytraps go dormant for three months, December, January, and February. You do not need to make them hibernate in the refrigerator.
My Venus flytrap, Jaws, is healthy.

PS -- If one of the flytraps is 100% black, cut it off with a pair of scissors.

Celebrating 2

Hey! Hey! You can have my posts emailed to you by subscribing with that box over there --------->.

One.
My dad, the gorilla, is funny. (He is in a costume--don't worry!) Gorilla Dad shook the fort, grabbed Meatman's feet, and growled. It would make you scared!

Two.

My aunt Abbie is very nice. She gives me popcorn at games. Last night at the high school football game, I was freeeeeeeezing and she gave me a blanket. That's not the best part, though. The best part was the back rub! But I fell asleep it was so massaging and then I hit the ground! Well, not the ground, but the bleachers. Aunt Abbie held me tight after that!

Three.

Friends came over for Friend Friday. Zach, Gavin, Abby, and Erin ate dinner with us and fought the Gorilla Dad. (The girls were on the Gorilla side.) Dinner was good -- PIZZA!

Four.

Venus Flytraps. This is Jaws, our Venus Flytrap. No, we will not chop him to death...he's gentle. His leaves feel like leather. I take care of him. When I get home from school, I tell him about my day. He's a very good listener. Don't feed Venus Flytraps regular water. Feed them distilled water. If most of the traps are turning black, put meat in one of the green traps. Then your Venus Flytrap will grow stronger.

7 Things to Celebrate

I am celebrating a few things this month:

  1. My  sister's birthday
  2. My report card (Oops! I said the R-word!)
  3. Legos (Haha!)
  4. Sleep
  5. Scout camp
  6. Lassie (I watched Lassie and now want a Border Collie.)
  7. My family: Mom, Dad, Jordan (aka Meatman or Jay), Stephanie, Hannah(we are celebrating Hannah's bday!) and, last but not least, ME!

One of my Lego sets.

This is Lassie, the Border Collie. Border Collie's are my favorite kind of dogs. I decided this after watching Lassie.

Sky Zone {Sam's Writing Advice}

Sam's Writing Tip: When you're writing a story, make your characters move, think, and talk.

*****

I was at the big doors at Sky Zone. I thought about what tricks to do. Before I knew it, it was our time to jumpI jumped at the basketball place. SCORE! Yay! I just slam dunked the ball in the hoop!

Then, I went to the foam cube pit. I ran,  and catapulted myself into the pit! "Ohyea!"I screamed.

Then, I ran, well, lets just say speed walked, to the trampoline park. I got the corner!! I jumped off the wall, jumped once, and did a double 360! I kept on doing that and then played dodge ball. WOOSH! The doge ball zoomed past me. Ha! It missed me! For the rest of the time I played at the trampoline park.

the end.
