Celebrating 2

Hey! Hey! You can have my posts emailed to you by subscribing with that box over there --------->.

One.
My dad, the gorilla, is funny. (He is in a costume--don't worry!) Gorilla Dad shook the fort, grabbed Meatman's feet, and growled. It would make you scared!

Two.

My aunt Abbie is very nice. She gives me popcorn at games. Last night at the high school football game, I was freeeeeeeezing and she gave me a blanket. That's not the best part, though. The best part was the back rub! But I fell asleep it was so massaging and then I hit the ground! Well, not the ground, but the bleachers. Aunt Abbie held me tight after that!

Three.

Friends came over for Friend Friday. Zach, Gavin, Abby, and Erin ate dinner with us and fought the Gorilla Dad. (The girls were on the Gorilla side.) Dinner was good -- PIZZA!

Four.

Venus Flytraps. This is Jaws, our Venus Flytrap. No, we will not chop him to death...he's gentle. His leaves feel like leather. I take care of him. When I get home from school, I tell him about my day. He's a very good listener. Don't feed Venus Flytraps regular water. Feed them distilled water. If most of the traps are turning black, put meat in one of the green traps. Then your Venus Flytrap will grow stronger.

  1. Sam, I really enjoyed reading about your celebrations! I love that your dad dressed up as a gorilla. How fun, and what a great aunt you have. You can't go wrong with pizza and friends, and I think Venus Flytraps are awesome! That's cool that you can talk to it. I didn't know you had to feed them distilled water. Keep celebrating!

  2. I am so glad you told us that the gorilla was your dad dressed up. In the video it looks very real! I like the idea of a Friend Friday. If your Venus Flytrap eats fruit flies then maybe I should buy one because our house sure seems to have a lot of those right now! Have a great weekend Sam!

  3. Gorillas, friends, massages, and a healthy carnivorous plant make an interesting week of celebrations. I learned something new about caring for Venus Flytraps. Thanks!

  6. Hi Sam, I think that everyone needs a dad that dresses up in a gorilla suit. I had to read what you said twice to be sure I was understanding. What a fun time! And it looks like you had fun with your Aunt Abby and your friends too. Sounds like a very good week. I like the sharing about the Venus flytrap too, didn't know about the distilled water. I used to have students visit me in my classroom to see if there were any dead flies in the window sills, for "their" flytrap. You brought back some memories. Have a great weekend!

  7. Wow, Sam! I think that gorilla better watch out for the umbrella coming at him. Friend Friday sounds like so much fun! And your Venus flytrap is so interesting!

  8. Sam, opening your post up with a Vine video showing a growling gorilla ready to shake your fort down was charming. I am glad it was only your Dad. I think you had a pretty neat week and I enjoyed how you ended the post with your friendly Venus Fly Trap. Enjoy fall. I have a gallery of poems and photos that will be released and I was wondering if you and your Mom or Dad would be interested. You can see the information about the Finding Fall Gallery at http://beyondliteracylink.blogspot.com/2014/09/falling-into-place-as-season-turns.html. I would enjoy having a student describing fall.

  10. It was so funny to see your Gorilla-Dad in action. What an exciting game to play on Friend Friday. Wonderful that your Aunt Abbie was there to hold you tight after your tumble on the bleachers, too. Thank you for the information on Jaws, because I learned what a good friend a Venus Flytrap can be.

  11. Wow, Sam, your own blog and good time stories. Not everyone has a gorilla show up in their back yard! I just discovered your blog by taking a closer look at your mom's blog. I will be checking on your blog now, too. Continue to celebrate life.
